Partner
Rick Claussen, a founding partner, is considered one of the best strategic minds in the business. Rick supervises the Sacramento office, which specializes in public affairs and ballot issue campaigns.
Rick has managed many of the firm's major ballot issue and public affairs campaigns on behalf of high-tech and venture capital firms, insurers, education reform supporters, taxpayer and business groups and tort reform groups. The firm represents numerous national and state associations as well as a several major public corporations.
The firm has won 9 out of 10 of its statewide ballot issue campaigns in California and many other states. Rick managed the successful come-from-behind campaign to defeat Proposition 82 on California's June 2006 primary election ballot. Prop. 82, which would have increased income taxes to fund a new pre-school program, was defeated with a 61% NO vote. The firm also managed the “No on 86” campaign on behalf of the Stop the $2 Billion Tax Hike Committee and co-managed and produced the paid media for the “No on 89” campaign that same year. More recently, Claussen managed the campaign to defeat Proposition 92 in early 2008, which would have reduced funding for K-12 schools and California's four-year university system.
